Briteny Sprears - hit me baby one more time
Our video is very similar to this one because it starts with her in the classroom very bored and she
then leaves the classroom and her and her friends are having a lot of
fun going to different locations. It also ends with her realising it was
all a day dream like in our video how Millie wakes up at the end
realising it was a dream.
It shows the same bored school girl attitude we want to show in our
video. The beginning is similar to our music video because we want to
show students in a classroom bored and show a teacher talking however
none of the students are listening.
However we wanted
our video to be different to Britney Spears one because it shows her and
a group of girls around her dressed provocatively and dancing sexually.
We did not want to conform to the idea of young girls in the pop
industry being sexualised, we wanted to make it more about the girls
having fun as teenagers rather then being provocative.
Spice girls- wannabe.
This has a group of 5 girls doing what they like and having a lot of fun
without a care in the world which is the same kind of attitude we want
to portray in our music video.
It features all the girls lip sinking and jumping around very excited
which is also something we want in our video. Although the spice girls
are older then the people in our video they are acting as if they are
teenagers doing what they like much like the girls in our music video.
In
this music video it has all of the spice girls doing dance routines
together in some points which is something we decided not to do as this
would take too much preparation and choreography which we do not have
the time and resources for.
This video creates the vibe of wanting
to jump around and dance like the girls in the video which we also want
to do in our video. We want people to watch our video and feel like
they want to join in with the fun and get up and jump around.
Selina Gomez-
Birthday.
It features her and a group of her friends having a party on
her birthday and the shots are all POV from what seems like other people
in the partys perspective making you feel like you are there with them.
This shows all her friends around her and dancing as she sings along.
This
video has her dancing with a lot of her friends and this inspired one of
the scenes for our music video where we want to show lots of friends
together in a party atmosphere. Also because she is a girl and a lot of
the people at the party are girls we likes it because our video is very
much for girls having fun.
It
has some mid shots with her friends and we liked this because it showed
how she had lots of different friends and they all wanted to have a
good time together and in our video we want to show how the girls are
good friends messing around together.
Ke$has video- Tick Tok
This inspired us and gave a lot of ideas for our
own video. At the very beginning of the video she is in a bath and it is
very bright showing us it is morning time and we can infer she has slept
in the bath after a night out.
She
has clearly come home the night before drunk and stumbled into the bath
and slept there. She still has her party clothes on from the night
before and all her make-up is smudged giving us the impression she is
hungover. We liked the idea of her in the bath because it shows she is a
party girl and a wild child. We really liked this because it is the reckless behaviour we want to show in our video. Her hair is also messed
up and she has dark roots showing she does not care and big hair is also
usually connected with partying as girls often make their hair big for a
night out. WE used intertextuality here by also wanting to have the
girls in the bath in party clothes. This inspired us to make a scene in
our video with the girls in the bath dressed in party clothes with their make-up done as if they are in a house party and have taken the party
into the bathroom with them. We want this scene to show them in a very energetic partying mood, all wanting to have fun. It will show them in
the bath or around it with a few other people around to show it is a
party and they will be singing along to the song.
Film- wild child
A film that inspired our video is Wild child.
This
shot shows the 5 main girls all taking a selfie together. They are
clearly all young girls as they are dressing up together and just having
fun together without a care in the world. In this scene they were
supposed to be dressing up for a social with another school and were
trying to make the best out of the clothes from the only clothes shop in
town, the local charity shop.We really liked the whole idea of dressing
up with your friends for fun and wanted to use this in our music video.
We are using intertextuality in our video by having a shot of the girls
all in a room together dressing up and jumping around singing the song
lyrics into hairbrushes as if they are microphones.
Film - Mean girls
A film that we wanted to subvert was mean girls. This film represents
girls as 'bitchy' and that's not what we wanted to show. We saw the way
teenage girls are shown in this movie and a lot of society, and wanted to
subvert that idea by showing girls in a better light and showing them
all having fun together and showing the good bonds friends make and the
adventures they have together.
It
does not show how girls can be good friends and have strong bonds
together, instead it shows them all pretending to be friends and
blabbing each others secrets to other people, and all 'back stabbing'
each other throughout the movie. I did not like this representation of
woman being 'bitches' so we want our video to show a new perspective and
break the stereotypes surrounding teenage girls.
TV - Some girls
tv show that influenced the characters in our video is some girls.
There
are 4 main characters in some girls, all 15- 17 years old living in southern England. The main protagonist, Viva Bennett (on the far left),
is the motivated one out of them and is committed to school and getting
good grades for her future. There is also Holly Vavasour (on the far
right) , who is prone to violent but funny outbursts and looks after her
younger siblings, she also looks to Viva as a motherly figure (seeing
as her own in absent). Saz Kaur (middle right), is an up tight maths
geek, brought up in a traditional British Punjabi/ Sikh family, with a cynical but funny view on life. And last of all there is Amber Dean
(middle left) means well but is the typical 'dumb blonde' and is
obsessed with boyfriends. The 4 best friends stick together through everything an go through all there teenage problems together and have
adventures together and have heaps of fun with each other.
